The Perfect man analysis

  •  she is going to the prom suggesting she is very much classed as a ‘normal’ teenage. The other character is wearing very casual clothes, with her hair down.
  • The cake is used as a prop to show the mother figures anger and frustration at the man in the door. What seemed to be a man who made her happy at first, shown by the smile and excited reaction when the doorbell rang, soon changed her reaction to show hatred for the same man. This shows the two sides of the character, using binary opposites.
  • Natural lighting used to give a sense of realism which makes the audience feel more for the characters. This allows there to be more sympathy felt for the mother figure but also the two children.

Setting
  • The main character has a vary girly room with mirrors placed around the room at various places, this is a typical teenage room and is stereotypical of not only her but also the target audience, this allows them to relate to the environment and her
  • House
  • Kitchen- a big part of the mothers life?

Introduction to characters
  • The opening of The Perfect man begins with a black screen with only the credits on.  There is a voiceover, beginning with the sound of knocking on the door. This connotes to the audience that they main character may be shy because she has taken a while to be revealed.
  • We then have a straight cut into a character waiting outside a door and the main character opening the door wearing a red prom dress. A two shot is used at this point connoting that these two characters are very similar and hold similar characteristics
  • The fact that we then reverse back to the same main character suggests that there is a clear connection between these characters but that there also may be some friction between them which may be the fact that she has to move a lot because of her mother.
Music

  • The non-diegetic music in the background is very slow and ‘twinkly’ with the use of a piano.
